Naturopathic Testing

During Naturopathic consultations there will be times where gathering extra information helps to direct the program of your health closer to a positive outcome.  Whilst much can be gathered by the usual testing that a GP may do, unless certain tests are specifically requested, generally these baseline tests may not cover what your body is trying to tell us.

For this reason, I will recommend other assessments that are either performed during an appointment in the clinic or using the support of testing protocol using some of the laboratories below. If you are interested in any testing not listed here please raise that in your next appointment.  If you have any questions about tests here, we can also discuss how helpful or appropriate these will be for your case.

Costs of tests do vary as they are set by the labs themselves. In most cases, you will be set up with testing kits that are paid for by you directly to the lab ahead of your samples being processed.

If you have tests that are already performed and you have copies, and you would like some interpretations performed with workable explanations on how they relate to your lifestyle, book in for a Test Interpretation appointment here.

During this appointment I will:

  • Add your test copies to your digital file to ensure we always have ready access to them for future reference and reflection

  • Explain each test that requires explanation - especially when nearing the upper or lower ranges

  • Recommend next testing period for each item requiring review ie Vitamin D supplementation should cease once replete which is determined by follow up testing

  • Recommend clarifying items to be tested to reveal the picture clearer for successful program building

  • Connect with your general practitioner regarding further enquiries and testing where necessary

  • Set up pathology laboratory scripts for further testing where necessary

Tests We Can Do Via Home, Lab or Clinic Sample Collection Kits

The Omega-3 Index Test is a simple on-the-spot finger-prick test that measures the percentage of EPA and DHA in red blood cell (RBC) fatty acids.

The test itself specifically measures: omega-3 index (total combined EPA and DHA); Omega-6:Omega-3 ratio; EPA:Arachidonic acid ratio; and total trans fats, 24 fatty acids (FAs) including (Omega-3 FAs; Omega-6 FAs; Monosaturated FAs; Saturated FAs; Trans FAs).

It is understood that 4 out of 5 patients are not getting enough omega-3 intake, therefore, assessing omega-3 status validates the need for supplementation, as well as identifying those at risk of certain health issues. Test results provide opportunity to highlight the importance of quality omega-3 supplementation and nutrient absorption for best nutritional outcomes.

DUTCH Hormone testing is a comprehensive assessment of your reproductive, sleep, adrenal, mood and ageing related hormones.  You receive a kit to gather your sample in the comfort of your home, which is then sent away for processing.  Considered to be the most accurate method of assessing your hormones, this is highly comprehensive and useful when identifying hormone related health imbalances and their solutions.

Metabiome testing is recommended when we are assessing the impact of your gut bacteria on your overall health. As the gut bacteria can affect your immune, metabolic, mood, detoxification, gut membrane and motility in both positive and adverse ways, this test checks out all of the species found in your gut and what functions they are doing to either contribute or detract from your wellbeing. This is the who's who of your poo test, and will reveal an enormous amount of helpful information about foods to eat and avoid and nutrients to focus or steer away from. An easy swab style home kit.

Food Detective testing is easy, quick and revealing and able to be performed in under an hour during a clinic appointment.  Uncovering what major foods you may be sensitive to, its a quick snapshot as to a possible 48 food and their related food groups to be mindful of when considering your gut and immune health.

Nutripath is an Australian lab who I refer patients to for more specific and extensive testing, outside of Medicare cover. The panels we can test for you are extensive so let's chat about what is going to be relevant and useful for you o your health journey.
